Critical Mass in Poland

Critical Mass is active in some Polish cities and seems to be gaining momentum. Warsaw CM is by far the biggest - in spring and early summer, it attracts more than one thousand cyclists. Below, you will find links to the websites of various CM events in Poland. All are in Polish, but you'll probably guess "when" and "where". Just in case you want to join a CM and can't decipher what the hell is written in Polish in websites below: piątek is Friday, sobota: Saturday, niedziela: Sunday, czwartek is Thursday.
  1. Warsaw Mass: www.masa.w.pl (try also www.masa.prv.pl or www.wawamasa.webpark.pl). Starts on every last Friday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at Plac Zamkowy (Zamkowy Square) near Kolumna Zygmunta - the pillar monument in the middle of the square. Cult event dating back to 1998. Apparently one of the bigger CM events in the world, and a true Central Europe underground. In June, 2002, the Warsaw CM was broken by the police with truncheons and guns. Both sides grew civilized since then and the police accompanies now CM on bicycles and motorcycles - even though the event for long time was not registered (legalized) with the authorities. Recently, CM in Warsaw is registered with the police. 
  2. Łódź CM: www.masakrytyczna.up.pl. Starts each last Friday of the month, 6:00 p.m., Pasaż Schillera downtown.
  3. Szczecin CM: www.masakrytyczna.most.org.pl. Starts each last Friday of the month, 6:00 p.m. at Grunwaldzki Square.
  4. Wrocław CM: www.rowery.uni.wroc.pl Another CM with history: on May 9th, 2003, police arrested many participants; some were severely beaten. Start every last Friday of the month at 4:30 p.m. at Plac Bema (Bema Square)
  5. Olsztyn CM: www.rowerowyolsztyn.prv.pl. Starts each last Friday of the month, 5:30 p.m. at the City Hall (Ratusz).
  6. Lublin CM: www.mk-lublin.prv.pl. Every fourth Saturday of the month, 1 p.m, plac Litewski (Litewski Square), recently reported inactive
  7. Płock CM: bikeplock.w.interia.pl/masak.htm or http://www.mk-slask.prv.pl. Every last Friday of the month, 3:00 p.m, at the Market Square fountain
  8. Katowice CM: http://www.mk.kom.pl. Every last Friday of the month, 5:30 p.m at Teatr Śląski (Śląski Theatre)
  9. Radom CM - http://www.masa.z.pl - every last Friday of the month, 5:00 p.m. at pl. Konstytucji 3 Maja (Konstytucji Square).
  10. CM in Bydgoszcz - http://www.masa.bydgoszcz.prv.pl - every last Friday of the month, 4:00 p.m. at HWS Łuczniczka
  11. CM in Sanok - http://www.masa.esanok.pl - every last Friday at 5:00 pm, at the Roundabout
  12. CM in Białystok - http://www.ptr.dojlidy.prv.pl - every last Friday of the month, 6:00 p.m. at Teatr Węgierki.
